Every time I go visit my parents I have to stop by our local thrift store. My favorite finds are all from here, and I even saw these old neoclassical glasses and ice bucket on One Kings Lane website for $450 (I bought the whole set for $10!) — I recently stopped by to see what gems were to be found and ended up getting two pretty unique pieces of art ($10 for both!). I originally wanted to place them on either side of the bed in a “his” and “hers” fashion but they match my kitchen area too perfectly.
“His”
“Hers”
I love frames. I love that these were on perfectly pristine linen mats. But I hated the gold and white linen frames, they just don’t work for my space. I originally tried to turn them champagne with some silver rub n’buff cream but it didn’t look right. So I decided contrast might be the way to go. Since my family has a frame shop it is pretty easy to disassemble pieces and put them back together again. I just took the frames off, spray painted them black, and popped them back in. Very simple fix but I think they look much better.
I’ve made a home for them in my kitchen, in between a photo I took of our trip to Barcelona (I was actually sick with a migraine that night and pouring myself water into that glass, but I pretend it was white wine) — I love that picture because we were staying at this amazing hotel (hotel Florida) on the hills above Barcelona and you can see the entire city behind the glass. I also collect corks from every bottle of wine we drink, all of those were from our trip to Spain and France in 2010. Added a nice border to the photo and works well in our wine-loving kitchen!
I really like that you took the project into your hands and made it work for you! They look lovely and very much at home in your kitchen
Thank you so much! I usually hate painting old frames, worried I will regret it later but I think these turned out well and now match my space!
Yesyes, they are impeccably done and the effort shows!
Honey, I’m envious
